Danielle M. Espinoza, M.S., LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#81025) & Owner of Mindful Luna Therapy

My name is Danielle M. Espinoza, LMFT (she, her, ella), and I am a bicultural (Mexican-American) and bilingual (English/Español) therapist with over 12 years of experience. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice and graduated from the same university in 2010 with an Master's degree in Counseling/Marriage & Family Therapy. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked in several community mental health agencies (2009-2015), for a large healthcare organization (2015-2021) and also in a group private practice (since 2020). My areas of specialty include: Trauma, perinatal mental health, depression and anxiety. Additionally, I have training and experience in providing immigration clinical evaluations for following cases: Asylum, VAWA, U-Visa and Extreme Hardship. I also have experience & training working with the following:

 - couples/relationship issues

 - work stress

 - LGBTQ+ issues (my therapeutic approach is LGBTQ+ affirming)

 - grief

 - life transitions

 - parenting issues

 - family conflict

 - self-esteem issues

I take an empathic approach and aim to create a comfortable environment. I will assist you in identifying goals so you can feel a sense of direction and get the most out of your therapy experience. I will start to empower you from the start by guiding you to tap into your inner-strengths. I am a firm believer in empowering clients to make their own decisions all while remaining as supportive as possible. I take an eclectic approach and combine different interventions and theoretical orientations including: person-centered, somatic therapy, Brainspotting, cognitive behavioral therapy, Gestalt therapy techniques, solution-focused, Interpersonal Therapy, family systems, trauma informed and trauma focused therapies, and Gottman couples therapy techniques. I also work from a cultural framework as this matters and is an important part of one's identity.

I believe that everyone coming into the therapy space has a story to tell (verbally or somatically) and deserves to have their story be heard or seen.

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you."

                                               - Maya Angelou

I do my best to create that space needed so that you can tell your story of pain, struggle, frustration, or whatever else it may consist of and assist you to either make meaning of your lived experience or to experience an emotional release of the hold (both physical and mental) that the experience/s may be having over you. I believe in supporting you through the process of healing.
